The story of Kabana
Stavros and Heidi Eleftheriou founded Kabana in Albuquerque in 1975. Stavros had come to New Mexico from Greece in the early 1970s; Heidi grew up here. Together, they built a family company around original design and exacting hand craftsmanship.
The work began in a home workshop and later moved into an old adobe mission church. Its bell tower inspired the name Kabana—the Greek word for “bell.” From sketch to final polish, Kabana jewelry continues to be made in Albuquerque.
Kabana’s signature solid-inlay technique requires each gemstone to be shaped by hand to fit precisely within its setting, then polished to a smooth, raised finish. Màti is Kabana’s flagship local boutique and part of the same family company: the place where every collection, custom possibility, and generation of care comes together.
